Bitcoin Ransomware Attackers Threatening to Expose and Shame Victims

According to a recent report by the KrebsonSecurity firm, several ransomware attackers are planning to publish sensitive data stolen from victims if they refuse to pay up. In fact, according to the report, a ransomware ‘gang’ has created a public website for that purpose only.

Stated the site in pretty broken English. KrebsOnSecurity was able to verify at least one company that suffered from a Maze ransomware infestation but hasn’t been reported in the news media.

Crypto Ransomware Attacks Are on the Rise

According to Kaspersky Labs, Cryptocurrency ransomware attacks are on the rise with notable examples like CryptoLocker and CryptoWall. The FBI has in fact been warning users about the danger of cryptocurrency ransomware attacks.

Even though security researches have been publishing decryption tools, ransomware attacks only got worse and not only for users but also for enterprises.

One of the best ways to stay safe is to avoid installing unknown programs, use advanced web and email protection and in case of an infection, disconnect from networks immediately.
